GO OFF ROAD SAFELY
Off Road means surfaces that are not smooth, such as grass, tracks and trails. Any of these surfaces have potential dangers and even the K-2 ALL TERRAIN has it's limitations.
So please, don't try steep hills or very rocky ground. At best you could get stuck, at worse damage to yourself or your chair. In any case, always go with a companion and make sure you carry a fully charged mobile phone with you.
Always let someone know where you are both going and check out that the area is passable by wheelchair, beforehand.
On Forestry Commission or other Trails, check that there are no stiles or gates to curtail your progress. Wear gloves, padded clothing and be on the lookout for an unstable situation, where you could tip and come out of the chair.
You may want to consider protective helmets as mountain cyclists wear and always carry sufficient water.
Never, ever, race downhill.
If you use the brakes in this situation the chair could whip round and you may be
tipped out, so keep it steady! Start out slow in areas that are familiar to you and you'll
soon get the idea.
Don't be put off - just take it easy and get out and see some nature
